Today I was looking trough all things I have written and saved to disk. Some things have been left un-finished, some just ideas of things to write later, and other finished pieces that were done for various reasons. I spent some time re-reading a few articles and short-stories I'd written, mainly un-finished ones and edited where needed to be. Wanted to continue on with some of the things I began but time just got away from me.
Tonight I came across a writing prompt I'd done for Writer's Digest. It was not the one chosen to go to print (they printed winners online in their community forum); I am sure they have thousands of writers submitting these things. I have to say these writing prompts are challenging. They give you an idea and a word limit, the rest is up to you. I can't recall exactly the prompt for this (wish I'd typed it in)but it was something about a group of people going on a boat to an island but never make it. I actually wrote 2 versions of this. I am going to share with you the one I feel is a little more interesting. This is a very short, short story but really could lead to something much longer and in greater detail.
Welcome to The Write Planet..because nobody wants to be on the wrong one. Its a blog about living from one human to all rest.

Twilight Saga in 5 paragraphs or less
With the upcoming release of the last installment of Stephanie Meyer's best selling vampire drama series, Twilight, I thought I'd take today to post a summery, in case you need a refresher. No copyright infringement is intended. The Twilight Saga was written by Stephanie Meyer and published by Little Brown. The following is in my own words.
There was a girl named Bella Swan who moved from the dry heat of Arizona to the wet cold of Washington to live with her dad and let her mother have some time with her new baseball player husband. Bella never really felt she fit in and it was never more apparent than when she attended Forks Highschool. The kids in the small town were a little strange; one family in particular, the Cullens. They were pale, with golden brown eyes and kept to themselves and missed school whenever the sun was shining. Edward Cullen intrigued Bella with his sparkling good looks. She soon began to crush on him. When she learned of his interest in her, they quickly became an item, but Edward had secrets, secrets that he started to share with Bella. Most people would have been afraid of the things he told her, but not Bella. She never felt more alive. Falling in love with a vampire isn't without problems of course, you know, the whole I want to bite you thing. Edwards protectiveness of Bella also became an obstacle and something the other vampires didn't understand.
Bella and Edward were inseparable and nothing, nobody, would change that. He was as drawn to her as she was to him. Was it love, lust, or something else? You pick. Edward did something stupid and killed another vampires mate to save Bella, still human. That vampire swore revenge on Edward and set her sights on Bella. It turned out Bella's perfect life with her perfect vampire family wasn't so perfect after all. After a couple near death experiences that included an attack on her by Edwards vampire brother, it was too much for Edward to bear (are you crying yet?). He decided he needed to be a total jerk and leave her behind. He left. A devastated, selfish Bella took her solace from Jacob, a boy who had a huge crush on Bella. She totally used him only messing with his mind even more.

The life of the un-popular
For my second blog post today - yeah..I know..that is a new record! (but I won't get a chance to post it this weekend)- nothing special...just a short, short piece I wrote. I may use this in another story as a scene, or may use the idea, or just leave this as is....I'm not sure yet. It's not a great piece of writing, but it's what was on the brain today.
PUSH BACK
This was a particular crappy day, you know, where nothing goes right. I woke up late, couldn’t find anything to wear, nearly missed the bus, forgot my lunch; it was raining and I slipped and almost landed on my butt in front of everyone and that was all before I even reached the school parking lot. By the time I had gotten there, I was really in no mood for the everyday normal pushing and shoving and teasing I endured on most mornings. I wasn’t the most beautiful in school, not by far, nor was I the smartest and definitely not popular. Most days I am fine with that, just being me. I like who I am and don’t see anything wrong with me. Sure, like most people, I question, on occasion, what is wrong with me that I seem to be the brunt of everyone’s jokes, but I just grin and bear it and try to make it through the day. I’ve never been out to have a large number of friends, to be popular, or any of the things so many other girls were after, so if I didn’t fit in with this group or that group, I was fine with it because I don’t want to be part of it anyway.

In my Room
It's not perfect, but this is one of my earlier writing assignments. Obviously it was meant to be descriptive and I am pretty certain we were to think back on something from our youth. I chose my bedroom that held a lot of memories. Re-reading what I wrote now, I am actually kinds surprised at how much detail I remember from my room where I grew up. It's been many years. I must have really dug deep into myself to pull some of this out. Enjoy!
In My Room
I open my eyes to the sound of birds chirping. The sunshine filled room has pink walls lined with posters. I sit up in my bed and push a fuzzy pink blanket off my legs. I scan the jumbled up clothes hanging inside a shiny wood closet in front of me. Stuffed underneath the clothes are brown boxes filled with toys.

Prologue
Sharing a very short section of what I am working on, and been working on for a while. I posted on my Facebook wall ages ago chapter one for my friends to read, so now I've decided to go ahead and post the prologue for all. The current working title is My Next-Door Alien. It's a teen fiction story. Age range will be 14+. So here it is...hope you enjoy it, I know it's short, but it's only the intro.

Sharing some writing
Okay..so the reason for the last post is because I've been working on re-vamping a short story that I wrote as my last class assignment with The Children's Institute of Literature (Writing for Children and Teens course). I never was satisfied with the ending, so I re-wrote it. I've been wanting to get this published because it's one of my better pieces of writing...but finding a market for it has failed. I entered it into on contest, with the old ending, didn't place...I am tempted to enter it into another...however, each of these contests cost money and if it's not worthy than there's no point. I've been reluctant to share this piece of writing with anyone (only a select few have had the privilege) because if I do want to get it published that's the outlet for which I wanted others to read it..however, enough time has passed. I decided to publish it online myself for anyone who may stop by my blog. That's really what my blog was set up to be..a place for me to publish my little shorts that aren't getting published or that I don't feel need to be. So this will be my first on this blog. If you want to see more of my writing you can visit GoodReads.com as I have posted a short and a chapter on there of writing I did and am working on. My GoodReads profile
So without further ado...may I present to you "Whirlwind" - my 10th assignment to finish my writing class, a piece which my instructor called "Stellar" and seemed to thoroughly enjoy..I hope you will as well. This is a story of fiction. Please feel free to comment. I warn you...it is over 2800 words.
