Revival time?

This blog has existed since 2009. In the years to today, now in 2025, I have developed several blogs and creative ideas and stopped blogging here since 2016. My new adventure began in 2017 and with that an entirely new blog. That journey has now come to an end as well. However that blog will remain for the foreseeable future. So the question is now, do I revive this here my old blog? I've reviewed several of my posts...some good, some not great. I didn't have a large audience, but could I get more if I changed my content? Or could I attract more if I write more often? My primary blog since 2017 was not hosted here with blogger as I tried somewhere else. I had some interest there but it's a very specific blog dealing with a very specific topic. I was lot more focused. I've updated The Write Planet because as it turns out some widget was preventing my blog from loading and in doing so I am attempting to link my 2 blogs together. Maybe they will, or should, become one entity I thought. You'll see it linked upwards and sideways. I did in fact briefly have another blog that was going to be the future home for my wire wrapped jewelry making business, but after several years of trying to get people to actually buy and not just want donations, I gave it up. I guess people just wanted me to spend a ton of money so they could get something for free. That business model was never going to work. Yeah I enjoyed making the stuff but I also fully intended to sell the items. I did sell some but then all the requests for donations or placing orders but never sending me the money (which they didn't get the items then). I'm currently 48 years old...it's been a long time this blog has been online. I am "retired" as a homeschool supervisor/teacher and finding my way in my new life of just being Holly. My kids are grown and I need a new identity. (figuratively speaking) Here is where I'm at, do I revive this blog and add new content, let it sit as it is, delete it from existence? If I do revive it will I change the name? Will I remove my old content? Perhaps only the things I no longer agree with myself on! Do I have anything to say that's worth reading? A lot of questions, no answers.

The New Blog

Welcome to the new blog. It's the old blog with a new theme, new name and new address. Life gets in the way sometimes...that and a  laptop that doesn't always want to work and a Kindle Fire (HD) that can be hard to type on...these things combined..well it has been almost a year since I last posted anything.

I plan to revamp the entire blog. I am not sure what direction I want to go yet, but things have changed and will change. For now, enjoy the changes that have been made and be sure to update your bookmarks (if you have bookmarked me!) to the new address (if you have found me that is!). http://thewriteplanet.blogspot.com

More to come. I can't say I am gonna blog daily or even weekly, but I will when I can. I have been very busy making jewelry and handsewn bags. If you have a moment, check out my stores and my Facebook page.

Welcome to The Write Planet....cause nobody wants to be on the wrong one!

Let me explain..

This little post is taking time to tell you what you may find here at Write World, Wrong Planet. My blog has been up and running for a while now and I do have 2 posts telling you a little about the blog, myself, and what to expect here, but now that I feel like am getting my footing I thought I could show you better. If you want to know the meaning behind the blog name look for that under the label, "What's this blog about?". Today I am telling you what posts you may find and what the labels mean.

Labels. I label everything, even in my non-online life. Everything needs to have it's place, including my posts. "My Life on Planet Earth" is where you can find writings about me, my thoughts, my opininons that don't fit into the article label. You will learn about who I am in that writing. I'm real, and honest; maybe too much so. What you see, is what you get - that's me. I've always been an open book to some extent. Sometimes that gets me into trouble, but this is who I am, take it, or leave it. I go back to my posts on occasion, re-read them, still looking for grammatical errors, yes, I'm human, I make mistakes and I miss them frequently. I also decide to delete posts that I feel don't belong on the blog. If I was in some weird mood and just complaining I'll go back, re-evaluate the writing and decide if I really need the world to read that (not like the "world" is reading my blog). This is not necessarily a section where you take away something other than learning about me as a human, a writer, a mother, and aspiring artist. I encourage you to take a look though because there just might be something there, as in my post, "In Contrast". It's raw, it's me, about my life, about religion; there's a subtle lesson in there.

What's in a name?

So for my first "real" post I am discussing my blog name. You may wonder about it, or you may not care at all. It's not the best title, and thinking of name for my blog was half the reason why it has taken me so long to start one. I am sure I made this so much more complicated than it needed to be, but that is after-all the nature of being me!

So, what's the meaning of "Write World, Wrong Planet"? Well, it's not very complicated, really, I swear. I love all things science-fiction, so I tried to put that into the title and theme somehow to showcase the type of person I am. I wrote down a bunch of things that came to mind, like Planet Hollyworld, no, really, that could have been the name of my blog! Hollyverse (instead of Universe) was one, Destination : Earth was another. So in my quest for choosing a title I researched my choices to make sure no one else had the same. I found some similarities and also found out that Destination : Earth is actually a band name...I had no clue.

So I went with my original title choice for these reasons; it implies sci-fi, it seems to fit how I feel about myself and others, and I used a play on words to show that I am aspiring to write for a living. So what does it mean? Well I often feel like either I, or some of those I encounter, just aren't from the same planet. My recent personal life has been filled with so much neurotic behaviors that I found myself wondering it if we all lived on the same planet, or rather were born on the same one. So the words "Wrong Planet" are to describe how I feel about my life, my surroundings, and just my place on this earth. All through my life I have felt like I didn't fit in. I'm happy with my label as different, or nerd, or geek, at least as an adult I am, as a child and teen it was harder to accept. But that is another story for another time.

So Write World is merely to describe my goals at this particular time in my life, and that is to be a writer. World in this instance is referring to the universe as a whole, but Write Universe just didn't have the same ring to it. So this will be my little place on the web where I can write in my own little world and showcase things I have written, looking to write, or working on. Like I said in my previous post this will be a place to write random thoughts and feelings, or to post articles or short stories. The stories that I would post would be things that maybe I haven't found a home for in the publishing world, or things I don't feel I will try to submit. I have not been published yet other than on the web at Associated Content, which I used as an outlet to practice article writing and to get ideas.

If you're curious about my writing goals or accomplishments to date, here are the details. I completed a course from The Institute of Children's Literature in 2008. The course provided a lot valuable information and direction, which is what I needed. I have no complaints at all about my experience. They were teaching us to submit article and fiction short stories to magazine publishers and in turn gave me insights and a place to start. I found that my niche seems to be that of writing for teen girls. Also, un-unexpectedly, I seem to enjoy writing more of the romance kind of story. I found much inspiration from my diaries as a child, teen and young adult. Stories I write have really nothing to do with my life, but the personalities or feelings of the characters stem from how I felt growing up.

I submitted a short fiction for young children to a magazine, but it was rejected. I now have to re-work it slightly to submit elsewhere. The magazine industry is tough for short story writers of fiction. If I were to write an article, I may have a better chance finding a place to submit. There are also ridiculous word limits. Teen fiction short stories, I haven't had any luck in finding a magazine who accepts them from adult writers. I currently have a teen short entered into a contest and plan to enter the same story, or even a different one into another contest happening next month. I am also currently working on a book length fiction for teen readers.

Thus concludes another post and introductions to me and my blog. From here on in it's anyone's guess what will spill out of my head and onto the screen. Gotta blog? How'd you come up with your blog name? Does it hold a special meaning for you? Share in the comments section.

Who Am I?

So you want to know who I am, and why you're here?

My name is Holly. I'm a 30-something wife and a mother of 2 young children. I'm a stay-at-home mom. What does that mean? I am with my kids everyday of every week for all hours of the day. If you don't think that's work, then you've never tried it. My kids keep me pretty busy. I lead a fairly normal, average life.

I have a creative side to me that I like to indulge in. I taught myself how to draw and shade with graphite pencils. I'm not pro, but it's something I enjoy. I enjoy taking photos with my Nikon N60 35MM film camera...yes, I said film! I have a diploma from the former Education Direct (now Penn-Foster) in photography. I have a diploma in writing for children and teens from The Institute of Children's Literature. Writing is another passion of mine. I also have really enjoyed sewing, creating, clothes for 11 1/2 inch dolls. Like I said, I have a creative side, and I try to put it to use in my everyday life.

So if you're wondering about my blog, well, this is a space for me to write to my hearts content. It may be articles on a topic I research, or it may be a personal note about family or daily life or you may even get a glimpse of a story I am working on. I may post some short stories or other work as well. My writing friends have said that blogging is something we should be doing, so here I am, doing it.

I hope that you enjoyed your visit, and will come back. Maybe I can help or inspire you or someone you know.So for now, in the words of a wise Vulcan, "live long and prosper" my friend.
