Let me start this blog by wishing all the mother's out there a Happy Mother's day.
Now onto to my thought of the day. I am subscribed to a few blogs, mostly people I know, but there are a few that I happened to just come across by accident that stood out to me and I saved. One such blog is mostly dealing with anything and everything pertaining to space. Space exploration, technology and the current news surrounding them. So on this blog I decided to check out a few of his favorite blog sites. I reached one that was talking about aliens in space. This person had done their research and their post was written very well and so it got me thinking about something to post on my own blog.
Anyone who knows me, knows that I love the science-fiction genre; aliens, space ships, space travel - all of that. So it brings up an interesting and sometimes touchy subject with many questions, but let me answer this one first. Do I think there are really aliens living out there in space somewhere that we just haven't met yet? My answer is no. While I do enjoy the fantasy and reading about them, I do not believe they exist in real life. So why don't I? Well, maybe it's foolish of me to think this way, and maybe I need to brush on my scripture, but my belief is that if there were other beings out there in space, God would have told us about them in the Bible.
Being a Christian I believe that God created the heavens and the Earth. In doing so he created space and all that's in it and he created all the things that live on the Earth, the trees, the animals and humans. He also said that he created man in his likeness, so we can only assume that means a humanoid bi-ped. Also is implicated that He only gave intelligence to humans, animals and angels. If God had made some other form of intelligent life, there surely would have been some mention to suggest that. Even if He did, and it's un-written, then I do not believe they would look any different than us. In that respect, I think they would be the same, needing to breathe air and therefore leads me further to believe there is no other life out there in the universe as no one has yet discovered any other planet that can sustain human life, nor do I believe they will.
So while I appreciate the fantasy of alien creatures and alien worlds I believe it to be fiction and no truth. It is purely entertainment and I don't think people should be afraid of aliens invading the Earth. Nor do I believe in UFO's - not in the sense that they are from some alien world sent to capture us or study us. Close Encounters of the Third Kind is an excellent film, but I don't think that or any other fiction tale written by any other writer holds any truth or reality. I know Christians who think it's possible, and that's fine, but if you really look at what the Bible is saying, I don't think God indicated in any way that there is life out there. Sure I'll agree that God doesn't explain everything in the Bible, but I think it would have been at least mentioned that he created other beings when he created everything else. The heavens and Earth and all in it were created in 6 days and then God rested.
So while I do believe in "life" out there, I do not believe in aliens. Let me explain: the life that is out there is God himself, Jesus, the angels, and all those believers of him that died and now have everlasting life, living with God. I do not believe in any other type of life out there.
It's interesting to think about, isn't it?
